About the Candidate
Karen Kerin is a well-educated, 64-year-old, seventh generation Vermonter who, as an army brat, grew up in foreign lands after the Second World War. Karen graduated from the University of Vermont in Civil Engineering, earning membership in the coveted Chi Epsilon honorary society as a charter member. She went on to work for Chicago Bridge & Iron Company, traveling as a part of the job. She then started her own engineering and construction company serving as president and chairman of the board. Offered the position of Director of Public Works (county engineer) for New Castle County, Delaware, Karen worked as a public official for two years. Following that she did another two year stint with a large consulting engineering firm until a very attractive offer with a computer automation firm as chief engineer lured her into a very different corporate structure.
